Russian Festival Orchestra -
Yuval Waldman, Conductor
I'm in "Red Square" with
Yuval Waldman, the
great violinist and conductor. After
an 8 hour recording session, we're hungry. We pass up
McDonalds' in favor of Tex Mex and beers.
The day was good. We
recorded "Crushed Tomatoes" in 8 takes. The strings
soared, the brasses wailed, the english horn
sang plaintively. Two beautiful Russian girls with pouty
lips, eye
us from the bar. We have to look the other
way... |
|
we need our rest. Tomorrow
we'll have another chance to unleash the forces of the
Russian Festival Orchestra.
Thus, our week in the
Russian capital passed. If not for this CD, I could not
be sure it all really happened... endless Russian summer
days, warm white nights, splendid musicianship, instant
friendships, and of course - vodka.
This CD represents the first
in a series of annual recordings planned by me and
Yuval. This installment features four "symphonic poems"
in a style that emerged from the mist of American and
European art, music, pop and rock. Perhaps, someday, it
will be called the "Perillo style".
